ESG

Sustainability is currently the key focus worldwide. Certain activities, such as industrial operations and the construction sector, have been the main contributors to environmental impact in this century.

Currently, the construction industry is responsible for:

15.5% of the GDP and employs 15 million people in Brazil;

Buildings consume 70% of electricity; produce 40% of greenhouse gases; generate 50% to 70% of waste; and consume 12% of freshwater.

In Brazil alone, 220 million tons per year of natural aggregates are consumed in the Produtoion of concrete and mortar.

This approach has gradually given way to a focus on environmental protection, particularly regarding the conservation of natural resources. With this mindset, Marko Sistemas Metálicos honors its commitment to the environment by incorporating these principles into the company’s purpose, from Produto design to usage, from the manufacturing process to the daily practices of its employees.

Sustainable Facilities

The company’s commitment to sustainability is also evident in its facilities. At the Itaguaí factory, 70% of the 40,000-square-meter area is allocated to tree planting and gardens. All irrigation for green areas and sanitation systems will utilize rainwater collected through the Roll-on Metal Roofing System.

The Produto allows rainwater to flow to the edges of the building, facilitating collection and eliminating the need for internal drainage networks.

By using skylights and roof ventilation, the factory operates with natural light 80% of the time, ensuring energy savings. Additionally, the entire project prioritizes comfort while optimizing the use of lighting and water. A timer automatically turns off all non-essential equipment at a pre-set time and reactivates it in the morning. Faucets are also automated, promoting socially responsible water usage.

Sustainable Energy

We are constantly committed to pursuing innovations that not only reduce environmental impacts but also generate benefits for the environment.

As a result, we aim to develop a Produtoion chain aligned with sustainable principles, involving certified suppliers and conscious consumers.

All energy used in the manufacturing of Marko solutions comes from certified renewable sources, ensuring a commitment to sustainability throughout the entire Produtoion chain, so we can continue to offer increasingly sustainable solutions to our clients.

Smart Logistics

The compact storage and transportation method (coils and honeycomb) allows trucks and trailers to always operate at full load, reducing the number of trips, freight costs, and fuel consumption, while respecting road limits and preserving asphalt durability.

Sustainable Product

Due to their properties, Produtos manufactured by Marko are considered sustainable throughout their entire lifecycle — from design and manufacturing to transportation, installation, post-construction use, and operation.

Additionally, they meet the comfort and health requirements of building users, optimizing projects for the achievement of LEED and AQUA certifications. The raw material is steel, 100% recyclable with a galvanized coating, which ensures greater protection and extends the Produto’s lifespan.

In pursuit of innovative solutions for environmentally responsible projects, Marko also offers green steel with reduced carbon emissions as a raw material for its Produtos, allowing the carbon savings to be transferred to the building project.

Green Products

Due to their properties, Produtos manufactured by Marko are considered 100% green throughout their entire lifecycle, from design and manufacturing to transportation, installation, post-construction use, and operation.

The Produtos meet environmental performance requirements before, during, and after construction, as well as the comfort and health needs of building users, optimizing projects for LEED and AQUA certification.

Steel is a 100% recyclable raw material, significantly reducing construction waste. Marko Produtos are fully galvanized, providing enhanced protection against environmental aggressions and extending the Produto’s lifespan.

Fully bolted, they eliminate the need for welding, ensuring a clean construction process.

The Produtos allow for ventilation, natural lighting, and thermal-acoustic insulation systems, preventing heat islands and sound reverberation (as confirmed by tests conducted by UNESP and IPI), providing energy savings in lighting and cooling. The exclusive continuous coils of the Roll-on System channel water to the edge of the building, facilitating projects designed for rainwater collection and reuse.

Clean and Safe Construction

Marko understands that skilled labor is essential for clean and safe construction. Therefore, the company invests in training programs focused on proper assembly practices as well as health and workplace safety.

The R&D department continues to develop proprietary safety equipment, which serves as additional protection alongside the standard PPE required by regulations.

The Produtos are fully bolted, with the option to assemble modules on the ground for later lifting. This approach drastically reduces work on the roof plane, minimizes the risk of workplace accidents, and increases Produtoivity on the construction site.
